The Orota Referral Hospital constructed in cooperation with the Peoples’ Republic of China (2003). The hospital has 200 beds and gives medical services to people from all over Eritrea with critical condition. The hospital also employs foreign and local specialists for complex surgeries and coordinates the various hospitals in Asmara such as the pediatrics hospital, maternity hospital, Berhan Aini Eye hospital, St. Mary hospital and others. It is fully computerized and hosts the National Health Library.
